Creating a form type call-to-action (CTA)

A Call-to-Action (CTA) is the means by which an anonymous visitor to your careers-related landing pages demonstrates an interest in your company as an employer and makes him/herself known to that employer.

There are multiple types of call-to-action in Recruitment Marketing - one of which is Form.

A form-type call-to-action is a highly versatile piece of content that allows you to capture as little or as much candidate information as you wish to have.

The form-type CTA, by default, is composed of three fields: first name, last name, and email, but this template can be reduced or built out as needed.

Creating a Form type CTA

    1. From the side menu, under Content click Call-To-Actions.
    2. Click New and to create a call-to-action:
      • Name your Call-To-Action - provide a descriptive name for your CTA form.
      • What type of Call-To-Action would you like? - available types are Apply CTA and Form. Ensure the type is set to Form.
      • What should happen when the form is submitted? - select the appropriate behaviour for your Call-To-Action form:
        • Display Confirmation Message
        • Redirect the user to a page
        • Redirect the user to a URL 
      • Please enter your Confirmation Text - this is the text shown to the user when they submit the form.
      • Please enter your Submit Button Text - optional enter the label for the submit button. The default text if this field is left blank is Submit.
      • Redirect to Page - is shown when the Redirect the user to a page behaviour is selected. Choose the page within the career site to redirect the user to.
      • Redirect URL - is shown when the Redirect the user to a URL behaviour is selected. Enter the URL you want to redirect the user to.
      • Redirection behaviour - is shown when either of the redirect behaviours are selected. Default behaviour is to redirect the user in the current tab. Alternatively, select Open new tab to have the redirection occur in a new tab.
        Note: If the Call-To-Action is an Apply CTA, redirection to a new tab can only be used where the ATS supports an HTTP GET request. If an HTTP POST is needed, the default redirect behaviour must be used.
    3. Click the Save button.
      The Call-To-Actions list displays with the new form type CTA.
    4. Click on the hyperlink in the Fields column alongside the CTA name, for example: "6 fields".

    6. Click the New button.
    7. Enter a name for the field - this is mostly for internal use but will be visible to candidates if: Give this field a label is checked and no alternative label has been entered.
    8. From the What type of field is it drop down, select one of the below.
      Note: If you select the Dropdown, Check Box Set or Radio Button type, you will need to add options or list-items for the candidate to consider and select. This can be done once you have finished creating the new form field.
      • Short text field - for use when candidate input is a single word, phrase or sentence
      • Large text area - for use with longer-form text, for example: candidate cover letter
      • Email
      • Attachment
      • Dropdown
      • Check Box Set
      • Consent - this must be added to a form if your company needs to be GDPR compliant.
      • Job alert
      • Radio button
    9. Depending on the field type selected, the following may display:
        • What candidate field does this bind to - As a rule, you will be selecting "None," here. The exception to that rule is if you do not already have fields that capture First name, last name, or email. It is essential that you have one field dedicated to candidate email; if a CTA does not have a field bound to candidate email, you will receive a warning.
        • Is this field required - If you require all candidates to complete this new field, check the box.
        • Enter an optional placeholder - Complete if you would like your new form field to display some text that would help guide candidates, for example: Your email here.
        • Give this field a label - Check if you would like the form to call out what this new field is, for example: "Short text field" and "Large text area".



        • Label (if different from field name) - If you would like the form to state what this new field is, and the information is different to what you have entered earlier, you will enter the alternative copy here.
        • Show this field in Candidate advanced search & Workflow - Select this checkbox for the new custom field to be available as a data type in the Advanced Search feature i.e. if you would like to be able to search for candidates based on the information they enter in this field.
        • Accessibility: Enter an optional title attribute - This title attribute of a form field can be interpreted by screen readers to provide friendlier information when the form field is empty but required. The title attribute can also be translated into multiple languages.
    10. Click the Save button.

The Form fields for the CTA display again, where you can review, add, edit, move position or delete fields as needed.

Note: The following file formats are allowed via the Attachment field type:

  • Word (.doc or .docx)
  • PDF
  • RTF
  • PNG
  • GIF
  • JPEG

Creating options

If you added a Dropdown, checkbox set, or Radio button field, you can add the options to display with it as follows:

  1. Beneath the relevant field, click the Options link.



  2. Click the New button.
  3. Enter a Name.
  4. Click the Save button.
  5. Repeat to add more fields as required.
  6. Return to the campaign and add the CTA to the relevant page.
