Google for Jobs

Recruitment Marketing Public

Recruitment Marketing has a built-in integration with Google for Jobs -  one of Google’s latest job finding products - built right into normal Google Search in selected countries.

Prerequisites

Before you can activate Google for Jobs, you must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Allow search engines and robots to index your pages.
  • Your site is added to Google Search Console and is a verified property. For more information, refer to Google: Verify your site ownership.
  • The following email has Owner permissions to the site within Google Search Console:
    deep-wave-91112@appspot.gserviceaccount.com

Activate

When the prerequisites have been met, select the "Enable Google for Jobs" tick box within your Company Settings, and Recruitment Marketing will start directly feeding your jobs to Google.

Note: This happens within your ATS Integration sync interval.

Even without Google for Jobs enabled, Recruitment Marketing will present the best job content, formatted in an optimised way, if GoogleBot indexes your career site – complete with an appropriate sitemap, so that search engines can find all your public content and jobs.

The integration discussed here is just an enhancement that quickly lets GoogleBot know about your jobs more directly.

Google Search Console

Setting up Google Search Console is essential for understanding your website’s visibility in search results. By following these steps, you can unlock valuable data, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure your site meets Google's search quality standards. For more information, refer to Google’s official documentation at the Google Search Console Help Center.

Sign in to Google Search Console

To begin:

  1. Visit the Google Search Console page: Google Search Console.
  2. Sign in with a Google account. Ideally, this should be the same Google account you use for Google Analytics or other Google services.

Add your website property

Google Search Console requires you to add and verify your website as a "property".

  • URL Prefix Property: Tracks only a specific URL prefix (e.g. https://www.example.com).

How to add a URL prefix property

  1. Select URL Prefix.
  2. Enter the full URL of your site (e.g. https://www.example.com). Be sure the protocol (http or https) is correct.
  3. Click Continue.
Tip: If your website supports HTTPS, always use the HTTPS version.

Verify site ownership

To ensure you own the website, Google Search Console requires you to verify ownership.

Verification methods for URL prefix property

For HTML Meta Tag:

  1. Copy the meta tag provided by Google.
  2. Add it to the <head> section of your site's home page.
  3. Click Verify.
Tip: After verifying, do not remove the meta tag; Google may periodically recheck ownership.

Submit your sitemap

A sitemap is a URL that provides information about the pages, jobs, blog posts, etc on your careers site, and the relationships between them. Search engines like Google read this to crawl your careers site more efficiently. For more information about sitemaps please refer to What Is a Sitemap?

Once you have a sitemap (e.g. https://example.com/sitemap.xml):

  1. Go to the Sitemaps section in Google Search Console.
  2. Enter the URL of your sitemap.
  3. Click Submit.
