The use of videos has increased in popularity, so there is a gallery feature that allows users to edit the video properties, copy the URL, and play the video. This saves the effort of adding it to a block on a landing page and previewing.

Managing videos

To access:

  1. From the side menu, under Content click Web Pages.
  2. Click the Videos tab.

  3. On the Videos page, there are options to:
    1. Click New to upload/link a new video.
    2. Search for existing videos.

For each video, there are Actions to:

  • Play Video.
  • Edit - refer to below for details.
  • Copy Video URL.
  • Delete the video.

Editing a video

  1. From the side menu, under Content click Web Pages.
  2. Click the Videos tab.
  3. Next to the relevant video, click the Edit icon.
  4. On the Edit Video page are options to configure:
    • Kind - the video type, either:
      • Hosted then Title and Choose File, or
      • YouTube then URL.
    • Choose Image.
    • Use image for video poster.
    • Captions - refer to below for details.
  5. Click the Save button to keep the changes.

Poster images

A poster image appears in front of the video before it begins playing. To configure it:

  1. First, add the poster image to the images library
  2. Edit the video and click the Choose Image button.
  3. Check the Use image for video poster option.
  4. Click the Save button.

The poster image will now appear on any page that has the video embedded on it using a video block.

Note: To save bandwidth, some iOS devices (iPhone/iPad) will not display a preview image of a video. This will often result in a blank rectangle in place of the video preview image when a page is viewed on an iOS device. To overcome this, it is recommended to supply a poster image for a video.

Captions

To be compliant with accessibility requirements, captions using the Web Video Text Tracks (WebVTT) format can be added.

To configure captions:

  1. From the side menu, under Content click Web Pages.
  2. Click the Videos tab.
  3. Next to the relevant video, click the Edit icon.
  4. Scroll to the Captions area to enter the times and text.
  5. Click the Save button to keep the changes.
