Creating a "Send me this job" CTA

Recruitment Marketing Public

If a candidate is not quite ready to apply for the role they are viewing on your Recruitment Marketing powered Career Site, including a "Send me this job" call to action (CTA) on the job details page can be an effective way of maintaining engagement with that potential candidate.

Upon completion of the "Send me this job" call to action, the configured workflow will email them and/or SMS which includes a link back to the job description page of the job that they were viewing so that they can easily resume their candidate journey with your organisation.

In addition to making it easy for the candidate to find their way back to your career site, the "Send me this job" call to action also allows you to capture the candidate's details into your Recruitment Marketing CRM database, allowing you to continue to engage with them and nurture their interest moving forward.

Creating the CTA

To create the "Send me this job" call to action:

  1. From the side menu, under Content click Calls-To-Action.
  2. Click the New button.
  3. Complete the field in the form:
    1. Name your Call-To-Action: Give your CTA a meaningful name.
    2. What type of Call-To-Action would you like?: Select "Form".
    3. What should happen when the form is submitted?: Select "Display confirmation message".
    4. Please enter your Confirmation Text: Enter the text you'd like to show the candidate once they have submitted the form.
    5. Please enter your Submit Button Text: Optional, provide an alternative label for the submit button.
  4. Click the Save button.
  5. You will be taken back to the main Calls-To-Action page, where you will need to locate your new CTA.
  6. The following fields will have been automatically added to your Call-To-Action form:
    1. First name.
    2. Last name.
    3. Email.
  7. If you would like to add additional fields, such as Phone Number, to the Call-To-Action form:
    1. Click the link under the Fields column to view the fields for your CTA.
    2. Select New.
    3. Add in the required additional fields.

Adding the CTA to a page

Now that you have completed the creation of your "Send me this job" CTA form, you can go ahead and add it to the appropriate job template pages within your career site. As the CTA form requires a job context to work correctly, the "Send me this job" CTA should only be added to job template pages, and not to other landing pages or template types.

For information on how to add a CTA to a page template via the CMS, refer to Add a call-to-action to a page.

Creating the workflow

When a candidate completes the "Send me this job" CTA form, we want to email them and/or SMS with a link back to the job details page so that they can easily access the job again once they are ready to commence their application.

Before creating the workflow, you will need to create the templated email and SMS content that the candidate will receive.

Create the email communication

  1. From the side menu, under CRM click Emails.
  2. Click the New button.
  3. Complete the form:
    1. Please name your email: Give the email a meaningful name.
    2. What type of email would you like to create?: Select "new email from theme".
    3. What will this email be used for?: Select "Workflow".
  4. Choose whether you would like to use an existing template as the starting point for your email or whether you would like to use Recruitment Marketing's visual email builder.
  5. Click the Save button.
  6. Build out the content of your email as appropriate, remembering to include the title of the job and a link back to the job details page in the body of your email.

The "Job Title" and "Job Link" merge fields can easily be included from the Personalization menu.
  7. To ensure that the link back to the job includes the merge field for "Job Link", highlight your link text, and click the Link icon in the menu bar.
Use the following syntax to utilise the "Job Link" merge field within the link:
    {{job_link}}
Send me this job email link
  8. Preview your email to ensure that it renders as expected.

Create the SMS communication

If you would also like to send an SMS message to the candidate upon submission of the "Send me this job" CTA, you will need to create the templated communication for the SMS message:

  1. From the side menu, under CRM click Chat Messages.
  2. Click the New button.
  3. Complete the form:
    1. Please name your chat template: Enter a meaningful name for your SMS message
    2. What will this chat be used for?: Select "Workflow"
    3. Chat type: Select "SMS"
    4. From: Select an appropriate user
  4. As with the email template, ensure that you make use of the "Job title" and "Job Link" merge fields to provide your candidate with the details they need to get back to the job details:
    Send me this job sms
  5. Click Preview to review your SMS message.

Create the workflow

The final step is to create the workflow which will send the email and/or SMS message to the candidate upon submission of the CTA form.

  1. From the side menu, under CRM click Workflows.
  2. Click the New button.
  3. Complete the form:
    1. Workflow Name: Give your workflow a meaningful name.
    2. What should trigger this Workflow?: Select "Call-To-Action".
    3. Please choose the Call-To-Action: Select the CTA you created in the previous steps.
    4. Please Choose a web campaign: Optionally limit this CTA to a specific campaign.
    5. Job Criteria: Complete if appropriate.
    6. Restrict this workflow to live jobs: Check this box to ensure candidates only receive links for live jobs.
    7. Maximum of one workflow per application: Leave unchecked.
    8. Min. delay between workflow executions for each candidate: Set to a value of around 2 to 5 minutes to ensure that a candidate does receive multiple messages if they submit the form more than once for the same job in a short time.
  4. Click the Save button.
  5. Configure the workflow as appropriate for your needs. An example of what the flow may look like is shown here:

For general guidance on creating and managing workflows, refer to Recruitment Marketing Workflows.

With the workflow created and enabled, candidates who complete the CTA form you created earlier will now receive the email and/or SMS messages to help keep them engaged with your organisation.
