Completing your insider profile
Congratulations! Your company has selected you to represent them on the Employee Connections platform so that you can share meaningful insights and advice to potential candidates. This article will run through how to complete your profile so that it's engaging and inspires candidates to ask you more about your experiences.
Training
Your Employee Connections admins may invite you to join a training session, have a training slide deck to or a recording to share with you. Please check with them to see if these options are available. Your admin is likely the person that reached out to you about becoming an insider. Alternatively, you can access an insider training guide here.
Invitation email
You will be notified via email when you've been invited to create your insider profile. Click on the button in the email to begin completing your insider profile in the Employee Connections platform.
Fill in your profile
Once in the Employee Connections platform, click on the 'Fill in your profile' button, then confirm you agree to the End User Agreement. Next, enter a password and click 'Save'. Note: you need to create a password with a minimum of 8 characters long including at least 1 number and 1 special character.
Profile insights
Your profile insights form the bulk of your insider profile. Answering these 5 questions can provide candidates insight into your career, role and achievements, and they may then choose to ask you more questions based on how much detail you share. Candidates will often ask questions to insiders that they feel have a similar history to them, or who are in a role they aspire to be in. The 5 insights/questions to answer are:
- How would you describe your career in a nutshell?
- Can you describe your current position?
- What do you like the most about your current position?
- What advice would you give to a potential candidate based on your career experience?
- Which achievement are you most proud of?
Input a headline & then descriptive detail for each question (we recommend between 100-300 words). You need to answer at least 4 of the 5 questions to complete your profile. It might be helpful to draft your responses in another document before copying them into your Employee Connections profile. You can always update your insights at a later date if you think of more details to add. For inspiration, take a look at the insider profiles on these customer platforms:
Profile video
To add another interactive and engaging feature to your profile, record a quick 30 second - 1 minute video for candidates to watch. In your video:
- Introduce yourself
- Describe your background and current position
- Mention why you decided to be an insider
You can re-record as many times as necessary.
Career path
You're almost there! Fill in your career history, including your current position and roles you've had outside of your current company. Candidates like to see how you've progressed throughout your career, they may be on a similar journey! To complete your career path:
- Fill in the organisation name & your job title
- Enter the dates you worked in this role
- Click 'Add an experience' to add more steps to your career path, or click 'Next' once complete
Education
Similarly to your career path, complete your education history if applicable. To fill in your education:
- Enter the school name or program, degree/qualification and area of expertise
- Enter the dates you were completing this degree/qualification
- Click 'Add an education' to add more education history, or click 'Next' once complete
Personal details & profile picture
Check your name & email - update if necessary. Upload a profile picture (it doesn't have to be a formal/work photo!) then click 'Activate'.
Categories
The last step to completing your profile is to select the relevant profile & question categories. On the 'Verify & validate your profile' screen, scroll to the categorisation & filters section. Here, you'll see a few tabs with labels like 'department', 'team' or 'location'. Navigate through each tab and select the category (or categories) applicable to your role, location etc. Insiders will use these categories to filter inside profiles on the Employee Connections platform. Further down the page, there is a categories section. Tick all the categories you would be happy to receive questions about.
Validate
Review your profile information, and once it's complete, click the blue 'Validate my profile' button. That's it! Now your admin will review your profile and publish it. Once published, your profile will appear on the public platform for candidates to view. Keep an eye on your inbox for candidate questions, and reach out to your admin if you have any queries!
